| Background: On August
18th, the local Holiday Inn took the financial gamble of a lifetime
and actually allowed our own Jim Hendrick to broadcast his live(!)
morning show from one of their entertainment rooms. Worse, the
rumor had spread throughout a panicked Lakeland that Jim was actually going
to sing...on the air! With police manning water cannons outside the
gate to dispense the angry villagers should they try to storm the citadel
in protest, the show went bravely on.
It was a smash! Despite the scandalous rumors that have hounded him for a lifetime, the man can actually SING! A great time was had by all, and Jim, having secured his job with the radio station for at least another week, continued to provide a wonderful example of how, just because you get a few years on in life, you don't have to slow down.       |
